It was my hubby's birthday at the beginning of the month I wanted to do something different. We've done the spa day and thoroughly enjoyed it of course, but I wanted something a bit more interactive and fun. I Googled adventure dates near me and found Yorkshire Activity Centre which looked like just what I was after. Axe throwing, Air rifle shooting and Archery! It was £40 each and you got 3 hours - an hour for each activity. I think there are offer on Groupon or Wowcher too if you have a look there.

We turned up just in time for the safety briefing - you NEED to be there for this or you could miss your session. The instructor was very friendly, funny and informative making you feel at ease straight away. The first activity was archery. This was an hour of practice and then a few competitive group games which were good fun. I managed to shoot through the apple on top of the mannequin’s head - great considering when I first picked the bow up I couldn't even hold it properly!

Axe throwing was next, and I couldn't wait for this it was proper medieval stuff. We got our Viking on and after some more tuition and a lot of laughter, we tried a few different throws to get a feel for which we were the most comfortable with. This session was hilarious, and the activities certainly brought out the competitive among us, that's for sure! Again, there were games introduced to make it even more fun and I hit the card pinned to the target with my axe and Paul won at the group game.

Last, but not least there was air rifle shooting, which we did alone as we had the Triple A package and the rest of the group had just booked on two. This was great, we got to shoot at targets set up everywhere at different ranges and a few games were introduced to add competition between us. We had unlimited ammo, which was great as we got quite fast at loading and shooting.

All in all, it was a fantastic day out and if you are looking for something different to do I can certainly recommend it. We really enjoyed it and it would be a great idea for hen/stag parties or team building for work colleagues too.
